Make Your Community Sweeter One Dessert at a Time with "Random Acts of Sweetness"
We've all been touched by a random act of kindness. Remember how special you felt when a friend surprised you with flowers "just because," or when a colleague dropped you an unexpected note to tell you you've been doing a great job?
If so, you know that the sweetest gifts are often the most unexpected. In this spirit, C&H Sugar Company has launched Random Acts of Sweetness -- a new, national effort to inspire people across the country to bake homemade treats and surprise others with the gift of dessert any day of the year.
While it's no secret that baked goods make wonderful gifts for special occasions, Random Acts of Sweetness creates a new opportunity for you to celebrate the people in your life and build new connections with those you'd like to know better. It's easy to spread the sweetness: Simply bake a delicious dessert, place the freshly baked goodies in an attractive gift box or bag, personalize the gift with a handwritten note or card, and surprise someone in your community anytime with a homemade treat and encourage others to do the same.
From selecting a mouth-watering dessert recipe to seeing the surprised, joyful look on another's face when they receive your sweet gift, the Random Acts of Sweetness spirit is infectious. Whether you surprise a co-worker with a luscious Lemon Meringue Cake, get to know your neighbor over a plate of delectable Fudge Nut Brownies, or share a Strawberry Tart at your local center for seniors, the lucky recipients of your Random Act of Sweetness will be truly touched by your thoughtfulness -- not to mention enjoy the delicious treats!
So spread the word and make your community sweeter one dessert at a time. For delicious gift ideas, take a look at some of our sumptuous dessert recipes, tips for how to prepare memorable gifts from your oven, and give the gift of random sweetness today!
At 94 years of age, baking enthusiast Alice Agresti has embodied the Random Acts of Sweetness spirit over a lifetime. As a young girl, Alice fondly remembers her grandmother surprising her with a tasty gingerbread man each time she baked bread in her outdoor brick oven. Inspired to create this same wonderful feeling for the people in her community, Alice has dedicated her life to baking for the joy of others.
"Random Acts of Sweetness" have long been a part of Alice's life: she regularly prepares delicious baked treats and shares them as gifts with loved ones, neighbors, and often sends her fellow church-goers home with a bag of homemade cookies after Sunday service! She knows first-hand how rewarding it feels to brighten someone's day with homemade desserts. "The most precious thing in life is having friends around your table and doing for others. Those who bring sunshine to the life of others cannot keep it from themselves."
Alice shared her sweet memories with us and now we want to hear your Random Acts of Sweetness story. Tell us what you baked, who you surprised with your homemade treats and how they responded -- and receive an official Random Acts of Sweetness gift kit! Email us at RAScomments@chsugar.com.
